Unless your computer was abducted by aliens, you probably noticed legendary Seattle queen, Mama Tits, taking over the internet this past week.  She stood up to anti-gay protesters during Seattle's Pride parade, and has been applauded for her efforts via:  HuffPost, E!Online, Towleroad, NewNowNext, to name a few.  

But, you may recall that last year Philadelphia drag queen and RuPaul's Drag Race alum, Mimi Imfurst, behaved in nearly the exact same manner at Philadelphia Pride. The response to Mim's actions was far from positive. Rather, Mimi was threatened and harassed by police. Her actions were criticized by fans and online commenters alike. 

Why, then, has Mama Tits been praised for her actions, becoming an overnight internet sensation, while Mimi Imfurst was considered a pariah? Perhaps it is that we've become programmed to remember Mimi's undesirable reality TV persona.  Was it her RuPaul's Drag Race editing making fans believe Mimi was just up to her old tricks? In defense of Mimi, her actions standing up to anti-gay protestors was no different than Mama Tits, the new queen of the internet.

Decades before any of the RuPaul's Drag Race competitors began pumping out club anthems, RuPaul herself was a pretty prolific pop star.  It all started back in the early 90s, with her newest album coming out in 2014. So let's take a runway-walk down memory lane, and list RuPaul's top 10 best tracks of all time:

Kind of repetitive, yes.  Very catchy, oh my god, yes.  This mid-90s electronic drag-anthem about getting paid, is such a prancey and dancey song, proclaiming "Don't be Throwin' no Shade.  I just Wanna get Paid!"  A drag queen will cut a bitch if she doesn't get her promised-fee, and any club promoter not willing to keep up their end of the deal, just press play to this track, and make them listen.  Snap Snap.

This song is all about ruling the world, and being a heightened version of oneself.  It's a power drag queen anthem, about working your sexy body, being a female phenomenon, and an all-around girl power dance track.  Ru also named her limited-edition makeup line and fragrance, "Glamazon," so this song must resonate with her in a big way.

This song is about as catchy as the flu in January, and about as fun and catchy as any K$SHA track on popular radio stations.  Everybody loves a song about losing control and dancing, and this is definitely one of RuPaul's very best tracks.  Its violins playing in the background, over a pumping bass, and intense vocals, reminds me of another singing drag queen:  Madonna.

The 4th single released by RuPaul celebrates all the different hairstyles that RuPaul has donned.  This playful track highlights all the eccentricities of hair, including relaxer, corn rows, peace, love, and hair grease.  RuPaul is going back to her roots, and she belts to the heavens in this forgotten track.  Not having the marketable success of a few of her other famous singles, this one stands the test of time, as being one of the very best nonetheless.

I guarantee you that the only people that recognize this track, from this list, are SERIOUS RuPaul fans.  This is her "Baby One More Time," being her very first single, most thinking "Supermodel" is her first, but nope.... "Ping Ting Ting" was her first dip in the music pond.  This hip hop acid track is so late-80s and makes very little sense, and is very experimental and it's during Ru's Genderfuck phase, which is just so damn amazing.

Her 5th single didn't chart in the U.S., but was the B-side to "Supermodel (You Better Work)." This song is such a work of art, with the phrase "The vibrations of love are everywhere," makes this song a huge anthem for loving each other, and finding a "funky little place we can meet."  This repetitive, yet fierce track should make you want to pirouette down the street, while blasting this on your little gay iPhone.  If you want to tell your younger friends what the early 90s was like, just make them listen to this, and they'll be teleported instantly.

"Cover Girl, put the bass in your walk!"  RuPaul, gives us that confidence that only a 10 foot tall gorgeous drag queen could offer us common-folk.  This song is so infectious, I actually would dare any person with a pulse, to attempt to listen to it without queening out.  This song is all about the grandeur of appearance, and walking fiercely, and being a complete and total diva.

Yay!  RuPaul finally put out a booty-house anthem. This song is so over-the-top and fun, that it can make any Debbie Downer want to twerk on the wall of a church.  This song is meant to bring out one's bad side, and appreciate the big donkey butts of the world.  Released as a non-album single, this song was one of Ru's biggest singles to date, due to its advanced production quality, and powerful booty-shakability

There's no slowing down RuPaul, any time soon.  She's been the most famous drag queen of all time for a few decades now, and putting out fun dance singles, since the beginning.  Nearly two decades after the release of her greatest hit, "Supermodel," Ru struck gold with the Season 6 theme song, "Sissy that Walk." Charting 14th, on the US dance singles chart, this single from her "Born Naked" album was clearly the best track from the whole album.  "And if I fly, or if I fall, at least I can say, I gave my all" chanted over and over in the song, RuPaul's feel-good dance anthem, about being yourself and giving everything your all, makes this just another one of RuPaul's amazing songs with a strong message, hidden beneath.

Ok, so duh.  This song put RuPaul on the map.  It's an amazing track, featuring RuPaul at the beginning of her power-glam phase.  Charting 45th on the US Billboard Singles Chart, this song was not only a dance hit, but a massive pop radio hit.  This song spread like wildfire, making Ru a household name, and is semi-responsible for all of her huge successes.  Reaching gold, on heavy rotation at MTV (when they actually played videos), this track is truly a shining star in gay culture.  RuPaul's success with this song, is more than a song resonating with people, it was a drag queen who was doing it, and this sent RuPaul into a stratosphere that no one imagined possible.  And 20 years later, RuPaul is showing no signs of slowing down.  So, RuPaul, Shante you Stay, and so will your music.
