BenDeLaCreme is a campy burlesque queen with a high energy personality and lip synch performances to match. In one of our favorite 'Meet The Queens' quotes, Ben says "a lot of people have called me terminally delightful because I’m so excited about so many things that it occasionally almost stops my heart", and we think this sums her up perfectly.
Though we are more than excited about Ben joining this seasons cast, we can't say we are shocked. We've had her on our radar since she mysteriously disappeared during Season 6 filming, later canceling several large June gigs including the hugely popular Gender Blender and her own hometown's Pride. When asked about her involvement in RuPaul's Drag Race in an interview a few months ago, Ben simply answered "Sorry, out of time," basically confirming what everyone already suspected!
Ben is only the second Northwest queen to appear on RuPaul's Drag Race, the first being last year's winner and close friend of Ben, Jinkx Monsoon. Although Ben is turning it out as a rising drag star in Seattle, she grew up as a self-declared "outcast" in rural Connecticut. She discovered her love of performance art while she was studying painting at the Art Institute of Chicago (maybe that's why her mug is always painted for days!) With her background in fine art and performance, she has a distinct advantage in this competition and is definitely a queen to watch out for.
