The producers of RuPaul's Drag Race do an impressive job of keeping the competition balanced between established veterans and talented newcomers. Courtney Act is definitely on the established veteran side of the spectrum. She is the highest profile contestant to compete on the show since Chad Michaels, and many of her fans (including us) are very excited!

Courtney has been performing in drag for over a decade now, and she is no stranger to television. She first began her television career hosting a children's television program, SNICK, for Australia's Nickelodeon network in 2001. She later went on to increase her fan base on the first season of the singing competition, Australian Idol in 2003. She auditioned for the show as Courtney Act after getting rejected as her male counterpart the previous day (See: below). Her path to being a finalist on Idol led not only to that vast fan base, but also to the release of her first single "Rub Me Wrong" in 2004. Courtney certainly made a big splash after her time on Idol. She became known as "Australia's Favorite Gender Illusionist," and was listed as "World's Top 100 Sexiest Women" by FHM. Her world tour has taken her to a number of the hottest cities including London, Hong Kong, Ibiza, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and Las Vegas.

Since her world tour, Courtney has moved from Australia to West Hollywood where her career has continued to flourish. She has performed in drag for shows throughout the West Coast and toured North America. Courtney also appeared regularly in the YouTube series Transfashionable with RuPaul's Drag Race Season 4 contestant, Willam Belli. The series featured drag queens giving everyday boys and girls drag make overs to help them embrace their own charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent - four things which Courtney certainly isn't lacking. Courtney's Transfashionable success is just the tip of the iceberg that her career has become. Other online appearances include guest spotlights on Willam's (Not The) Beatdown and a shelariousDownton Abbey spoof.
The unstoppable Courtney Act not only performs her own fierce numbers, but she has done so for some of the world's biggest legends. This past July, shortly after filming ended, she and her Drag Race sisters Shangela and Chad Michaels were lucky enough to perform for the one and only Cher! Less than a month later, she performed for Lady Gaga, and was then featured in the 'Applause' lyric video! This marked her second performance for Gaga, the first being during a private birthday party for Mother Monster herself. After seeing Courtney walk the runway last month in the jaw-dropping Marco Marco Fashion Show, we are confident that the runway will be of little concern for her during the competition.

In addition to all her other titles, we're awarding Courtney the title for Least Believable Excuse for Disappearing in June. It's relatively common knowledge now that the contestants are not allowed to divulge the information about why they're leaving or where they're going during the five weeks of filming for RuPaul's Drag Race. Some chose not to say anything, and thus quietly disappeared from social media sites after canceling some regularly scheduled performances. However, Courtney decided to share a cover story with us. The cover? She was going to be on an exotic, desert island off the coast of Dubai performing highly exclusive private drag performances for rich, elderly bourgeoisie.  She then posted a photo of "her in Africa", but it looked remarkably similar to a photo from her January trip to the Seychelles. Both photos were taken from the same spot, with the same boat in the background! Oops. Love ya girl, but any good sleuth could have caught that one (especially Drag Official, who had a 100% prediction rate for the Season 6 queens).

Courtney's fan base is larger than any other queen to enter the competition yet. With a strong following in Australia and a growing number in the states, she is clearly a fan favorite. After seeing Courtney perform, American actress Chita Rivera said she was "immediately mystified and amazed by the dazzle, beauty, and talent" of Courtney. She went on to say that she felt "immense recognition is on the way!" Well, that recognition has certainly come for Courtney in America with her casting on RuPaul's Drag Race, and we can't wait to see how she'll mystify and amaze us during her time on the show!

It seems that Courtney's time filming for Season 6 has opened a strong desire to compete, as she recently made a wonderfully campy must-see announcement stating her intentions to compete for the 2014 Miss Universe crown!

Though we don't think she needs it, we miss Courtney Act the best of luck, and cannot wait to see her in Feb-Ru-ary! Keep up with Courtney by following her on Twitter and liking her on Facebook!

Pretttttty sure they mean they were 100% certain Courtney would be on whereas other queens were only speculated. Context alone gives you that.

I clocked that as well, but what they mean is that Courtney is living in the USA on the strength of a renewable talent visa, as opposed to living there because she has an actual green card (like Bebe or Ongina). Technically Courtney could still be asked to leave when that visa is up (though it is not likely after she appears on Drag Race), thus she is the first non-permanent resident to appear on the show.
