With a drag career of over 20 years, Miss Darienne Lake is a polished veteran with an enormous amount of talent. If you think Darienne is just filling the "big girl" role, you could not be more wrong. Yes she's full-figured, but everything about this queen is BIG.. the hair, the attitude, the personality, the humor! When it comes to the makings of a true comedy queen, Darienne has the full package. This Rochester native is as funny as they come, but she also exudes a professionalism that cannot be matched, and we are already living for her!

Over the course of her successful drag career, Darienne has seen her share of the television spotlight.
Darienne first appeared in VH1's documentary 'Boys will be Girls,' which originally aired in March of 2003. The documentary followed Darienne and some of her drag family as they discuss their drag beginnings and what each of them brings to their performances.
The television features don't stop there! Darienne later appeared on The Ricki Lake Show in an episode entitled 'Get A Grip Doll, You're Too Fat To Be A Drag Queen.' (But seriously, this was a thing!) The episode featured Darienne and a few other performers discussing the curves and swerves it takes to be a successful plus sized drag queen. Miss Darienne Lake and the other plus sized guests confront friends and family members who tell them that they're too big to be drag queens. It is absurd that this was even an issue to be discussed. We love every inch of you, Darienne!
Oh, did we mention another queen featured on this episode was Pandora Boxx? As in RuPaul's Drag Race All Star, Pandora Boxx.... Who also just happens to be Darienne's drag daughter. Talk about a funny family!

Back in October, after reading through nearly every one of Darienne's tweets, we felt obligated to share her hilarity with the world. We compiled some of favorite tweets from her, and published them in an article, Why Darienne Lake Is The Funniest Drag Queen on Twitter. She's not afraid to throw digs at herself, her family, or anyone else for that matter. We still think if you have a Twitter, you need to be following this queen!
In addition to Darienne's comedic talents, there's also a great deal of performance talent and showmanship that comes through on the stage. That charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent has already earned her 1 hometown title, 1998-1999 Miss Gay Rochester. She really knows how to work her curves and show the audience a good time.
Darienne is also no stranger to belting out a parody! Some of her many shelarious YouTube videos feature her rewriting the lyrics to iconic songs, much to the delight of her fans everywhere. Whether she's belting it out on stage for a crowded room of fans or singing little tunes from her bedroom to post online, this queen certainly has the vocal talents to go along with her super star attitude.
With over 20 years of experience, Darienne has certainly been around the block a time or two. Not only has she perfected her craft, but she's developed a very clear understanding of what drag means to her.

Back in August of 2013, Darienne told Drag Official:
Drag completes me, it is the icing on the cake. Being Darienne Lake fills in the nooks and crannies of my personality and strengths. Drag covers up my flaws, polishes the sparkle in my personality. It is the blood that runs through my veins and nourishes my soul. The energy, love, and support I get from the crowd compels me to continue to show the world that you can do drag no matter how young or old, fat or thin, ugly or pretty. Drag is not one thing, but it is everything.
Perhaps one of this queen's strongest assets is her almost contagious positivity and self-confidence! She owns the stage like very few queens can when she is performing, and when she's in the room, all eyes seem to gravitate her way. While no drag queen is complete without a heaping tablespoon of self-confidence, Miss Darienne Lake takes this to the next level, while still maintaining a pleasant and likable persona.
With a true passion for the art and a polished set of talents to bring to the competition, we can't wait to for Darienne to delight the audience in RuPaul's Drag Race season 6. Are you #TeamLake?
