Exciting news for Drag Becomes Him fans everywhere! In a press release yesterday, it was announced that Jinkx Monsoon is slated to be the star of a feature length documentary next year called Drag Becomes Him: The Movie. If you've looked up Jinkx Monsoon on YouTube, you probably came across episodes of Alex Berry's Drag Becomes Him documentary mini-series. The now viral web-series takes a behind-the-scenes look at Jinkx's drag career. Following Jinkx's rise to fame on RuPaul's Drag Race Season 5, the documentary series spiked in popularity and released four new installments. The web mini-series, which takes its name from a riff off of one of Jinkx's favorite movies, Death Becomes Her, has captivated fans and became known as one of the most entrancing series online. The web series, though, began well before Jinkx's journey on Drag Race, and continues to follow Jinkx as she is propelled into stardom with the fifth and most recent installment.
The upcoming feature film has already generated quite a buzz! The project is to be produced by Dual Power Productions, an entertainment company based in Seattle which strives to create fun and thought provoking films. It's currently set to be released in the summer of 2014. The movie will include pieces from the already produced mini-series, all five episodes of which can be found on YouTube, as well as extended cuts of new footage. The film is going to be funded by a Kickstarter campaign that will begin after the first of the new year!
