RuPaul on Drag Race: UK: "Let's do it. I'm ready for it!"

Today, RuPaul and Michelle Visage return with the seventh episode of 'Whats the Tee?' featuring legendary creative director and long-time friend, Mathu Andersen. The kiki begins by discussing Michelle's lunch with UK celebrity Jonathan Ross and his intentions of bringing the Drag Race franchise to Europe, confirmed by RuPaul:
Jonathan Ross has bought the UK rights to 'RuPaul's Drag Race'  and apparently he's going to do it with another group of people... If it comes to fruition!"

Michelle elaborates on her lunch with Jonathan Ross, emphasizing the importance of RuPaul hosting  the show as well because the people want RuPaul! The people crave RuPaul!
He’s a huge fan of the show and he believes what I believe- that people want you.  The people don’t want another drag queen, 100%. And when I told him that you were down to do it, he was like "What?! This changes everything. Absolutely!

This is the way it’s supposed to be…. There’s a huge following that they don’t want anybody else- they want Ru. And the the third person would be that Brit who would tie it all together. You. Me. Third Brit.
RuPaul seemed more than willing:
“Let’s do it! I’m ready for it. I’m ready for it… so, what’s the next step? He’s got to pitch it to a network?”
Though it's still just an idea in the works, this is the most interested RuPaul has ever sounded about participating in the UK version.

It sounds like the tentative judges could be RuPaul, Michelle Visage and Jodie Harsh. At this point, the show needs to be pitched to a network so it might still be a while before we get to see our London beauties on the telly!

Listen to the rest of the kiki as they discuss Michelle's three week trip through Europe, London drag, social media and much much more!

London beauties? There are other fantastic drag queens in the UK that are not in London.

"London beauties"? Psh. Michelle Visage herself said that Manchester is where the real drag talent is in the UK.

the problem is drag isn't as big in england as it is in the US or here in Australia. if they allow international drags to enter then they would get a much better calibre of queens, I think and it would be very different from the US version. the variety would make it a very interesting show.

Not forgetting us queens in the Midlands! Hopefully they won't just audition London queens.

I'm sorry to be negative but UK drag queens are nowhere near in the same league - I'd actually go as far to say they're right dogs! I'd love to be proven wrong but the majority just look like they model themselves on Lily Savage (but more manly!)...

Just saying....I'm from the UK...I'm 16 and a drag queen, and I don't look like a man....just look on my instagram @Keira_York and you'll see that there are some UK queens that are on par if not better than some/most american queens!

I think sweeping generalizations fly in the face of the professionals working around the UK. Drag race has always celebrated the diversity within drag and this would bring a whole different set of catchphrases and characters that could be a really edgey exciting show. It might also push the levels of polish and creativity up on the drag scene in the UK. We are known for our sense of humour after all. Being fishy would frankly mean an entirely different thing for a UK audience!
