It's time to put on those reading glasses! Well, at least for students at Occidental College in Los Angeles, California. The small liberal arts institution is offering a new course called "Reading RuPaul: Camp Culture, Gender Insubordination, and the Politics of Performance". Studying has never been so fun! The course will focus on queer and feminist theories through the eyes of Logo's hit reality competition RuPaul's Drag Race. The course will also include the classic film Paris Is Burning and RuPaul's book Workin' It.

According to OUT Magazine, who spoke with course director Daniel Williford, “the overarching premise is to ‘read’ RuPaul's Drag Race as an example of the creative techniques that marginalized people use to grapple with the violence, shame, and social illegitimacy that are the stuff of daily life”. Williford added that “students will be encouraged to critique this premise of the class and the show itself, but they will have to do so by immersing themselves in it”.
Now this sounds like a course we could ace!
